Google Earth shows Pantsir anti-air near Ukrainian border on August 26th

A Pantsir-team has been discovered near Donetsk in Russia:
Some further away one has been spotted too:

And this one is even much closer to the border:

That last photo must have been taken somewhere in this area:

That satellite image is from August 26th. One day before that photo was taken! So maybe the Pantsir is still there?

And yes, look here. On Aug 8th image... nothing:


August 26th image shows a vehicle:


August 31st image shows it's gone again. So it is a vehicle, not a building.


It has dimensions that fits with a Pantsir.
That location is NOT a typical road that leads from A to B. It is a hidden position near a lake. So definitely this is a firing position.
It is even relatively close to a residential neighborhood. Russia doesn't even care about it's own citizens... if there ever would have come return fire on this thing.

Also a radar system has been spotted on July 18th (thanks to @stabilizec):


The distance is some 18 kms. This might be within operational range, which means these systems could have connected to communicate with each other and share information about air traffic.


So it must be clear that Russia has Pantsir anti-air systems on the border with Ukraine in attack positions.


This puts new light on the downing of the AN-26 on July 14th (3 days before MH17). It has always been thought that a BUK brought it down, since that was the only thing capable of doing so and present in the area. But now it is clear that a Pantsir(-team) is in the area, it may very well have been a Pantsir that did this.

This also indicates that the BUK that brought down MH17 may have connected to a Russian radar on Russian territory, since it's distance to the Russian border was also some 17 kms.

Unnoticed video of AN-26 downing confirms shot down from Russian territory.

Largely unnoticed video of the downing of Ukrainian AN-26 confirms it was shot down from Russian territory.

This is really at the border with Russia!


In the beginning the cameraman is looking for the missile at his left side:


It is not there anymore, so he starts looking more to the North and at 0:30 he finds the trail:


The rocket is almost directly flying away from him.

That this is indeed the July 14th incident with the AN-26, can be seen by the same cloud pattern from the other video of it that was taken at a slightly different angle:


What's remarkable is that the rocket seems to hit at 0:39:


It means the video has been running for a full 39 seconds before impact. It means the launch had to be close to them so they immediately put on the camera to record the events. Basically the only thing they did not record was the launch itself.

All this information (launch site closeby, passing at his left side, rocket flying away from them) is compatible with the launch location that had been determined earlier:


This is where the BUK has been seen on a Google Earth satellite image from Aug 8th (position with the red vehicle item) :


The yellow arrows show tracks which also lead into the bushes behind the BUK.
When you look well, another vehicle can be seen under those bushes as well (bottom red circle).
The upper red circle shows yet another vehicle.

There is also a Aug 31st satellite image:


The previous positions are empty now and maybe a new position has been chosen (red circle). Or they may have relocated completely to another location at this date.


This AN-26 was the first Ukrainian plane that was shot down by a BUK and it happened 3 days before MH17 was shot down by a Russian BUK from Ukrainian territory.


UPDATE 12-12
Some people think the trail is not big enough for a BUK. Back in July everybody thought a BUK must have brought down the AN-26. But check this:
Maybe it was a Pantsir that brought it down and maybe the location spotted on Google Earth was for a Pantsir and not a BUK...

Google Earth shows Russian BUK that shot down Ukrainian AN-26 on July 14th

Google Earth has been very revealing lately because it updated a lot of areas with maps from August and September, thus showing positions and effects of the war between Russian and Ukraine.

On July 14th a Ukrainian cargo-plane AN-26 was shot down. It had been dropping supplies to the Ukrainian units positioned at the borders and was about to return back home. It was shot down by a SAM which was recorded on video. By geolocating that video it was possible to determine the approximate area where the missile was launched.

This is the map drawn back then:


The discussion at that time was whether this BUK was on Ukrainian territory or on Russian territory, or whether Russia had shot it down or the Russian proxies.
Based on the geolocated video I argued it was on Russian territory. I even showed areas were it could have been positioned:


With the updated maps I started to look there of course... and found it on the August 8th map!


Two vehicles can be seen here. A big one (left) and a small one (right). The big one is the BUK of course and the small one may be a jeep or scout vehicle.

Especially when compared to the map of May 15th, the differences can clearly be seen:


The 8-8 map shows tracks, the area shows erosion from the use and clearly the two vehicles are present now.

On a larger scale it looks like this:


As can be seen this is EXACTLY on one of the predicted locations.

The conclusion is: RUSSIA shot down this AN-26 FROM RUSSIAN TERRITORY. 
It is the first recorded incident of a direct attack from Russia onto Ukraine.
On July 11th there was an attack on a Ukrainian camp near Zelenopole with GRADs which destroyed the camp. It is SUSPECTED that this has been done from Russian territory too, but it could not be proven so far. See this blog.
On July 16th it was recorded on video and proven that Russian GRADs attacked Ukraine from Gukovo. See this blog.


As argued in this blog, the whole idea that the Russian proxies (also called rebels or 'separatists' by Western media) had captured a Ukrainian BUK is a fraud. They did not have a (functional) BUK.
The only thing capable of shooting the AN-26 down is this Russian BUK here.

A couple of days later on July 17th ANOTHER RUSSIAN BUK, that was especially driven into Ukraine for the occasion, shot down the civilian airliner MH17.

Likely area determined of Russian SAM that shot down AN-26 on July 14th

This video shows how a SAM rocket hits the Ukrainian AN-26 cargo aircraft that had just droped supplies to the units near Izvarino:

First we see a white smoke trail with a glowing point.



The AN-26 has propellor engines that don't give a smoke trail. So the trail must from the rocket.

It makes quite a turn:


Likely because the pilot makes an evasive move. 
The plane still goes round:


But the smoke disappears for a while. This is partly because the camera is zooming out and it is harder to see, but also because the burning engine does not make that much smoke as the rocket.

Next the engine or fuel tanks explode, while the plane is going straight down:


Again the trail is hard to see for a while, but in the end it lits up for another moment:


 Maybe the other engine of something else explodes.

 Note how the rocket comes from left and behind the cameraman, and almost goes in the same direction as where he is filming to. 
At the end of the video there are shots of the crashed plane:





It is reported that the plane had crashed near Davydo-Mykilske. There are not many long small buildings in this village, so the crash location is easy to determine:


Next we have a look at the environment of the cameraman:




Checking all the villages in the area, we can find a match here:


The pole can not exactly be determined, but there is a footbal field nearby which explains the pole perfectly.

Now we can have a look at the crash site and camera position on a large scale:

Since the rocket comes from the left side into the view, the red arrows are indicative for the direction where it comes from.

When we look at this on a larger scale:


We can see that there is a PERFECT area where the SAM could have been shot from, because this is a very forward position on RUSSIAN territory. Or to put it different: if the Russian would have to put a anti-air system somewhere, they should put it there, because it would give them the deepest range into Ukrainian territory.

If we look at that area more closely:


we can see numerous spots that would be good position for A SAM-unit. Personally (but WHO am I?) would choose the yellow spot, because it gives the deepest coverage into Ukraine, it is not too close to the border, it is not too close to a village to bother the people and it can give good protection.

Whatever the exact location is, scouts need to investigate the area to see where it really is.

Some more things:
  • this area / position is WITHIN a 24 km range of the crash site, which is lowest range of any Russian SAM-system.
  • Since the aircraft was flying at 6200 meters, no MANPAD could have shot it down.
  • It doesn't make sense for the Russian army to deploy a SAM system on Ukrainian ground. FIRST they deploy it close to the border. LATER they will deploy it on Ukrainian territory.
  • A SAM-system like the BUK-1 is too difficult to be operated by 'local militia'.

Russia extending its operations in Ukraine with airstrikes

Unofficially Russia may already have performed airstrikes on Ukraine. The first incident may have been on June 2nd on the administration building in Lugansk (see blog). The second incident likely was on June 26th on Stanytsia Luhanska (see blog).

On July 8th ridiculous reports from Russian news agencies came in that the rebels had captured a SU-25 from the Ukrainian air-force.
They don't even have an airfield...

But we have seen this before. When the first three Russian tanks crossed the border into Ukraine (see this blog) on June 12th, three days earlier similar false reports appeared that the rebels had captured three tanks:

So this only means one thing: Russia is going to extend it's operations in Ukraine with air-strikes. As always, they pretend to cover this up with some fake stories. Don't be mislead though. Russia is escalating the conflict and brings it to the next level.



There is a good chance that this '6 destroyed Ukrainian tanks'-story is not true. But this is to appease the international community. When they find out it is not true, they think: oh fortunately. But meanwhile they are getting used to the idea of airstrikes. So next time when it IS real... it seems already 'normal'.

This is the frog-in-the-pot style of heating things up...
